Re “Blaming Diversity Hiring, Trump Turns Accident Into Grievance” (front page, Jan. 31):

The collision of an American Airlines passenger plane and a military helicopter, claiming the lives of all on board both aircraft, was a horrific event for the passengers, the flight crews and the many who loved them.

A math prodigy born to Holocaust survivors in Latvia, he had received his doctorate from, and spent his career at, Hebrew University in Jerusalem,66jogo casino where he became known for his work in a field called geometric group theory.

I.V.F. often costs tens of thousands of dollars. Policies to cover those costs would be difficult to implement, experts said.

One would think and hope that the president of the United States would seek to deliver comfort and compassion in addressing the incident. Not this president.

The first part of Donald Trump’s comments were appropriate and unifying. But then, as we have witnessed so often, he goes on to demonstrate the hatred and divisiveness that define him.

As the bodies of the dead were still being recovered from the Potomac River, the president uttered idle and reckless speculation in an effort to lay blame for the tragedy: It was the incompetent D.E.I. hires in federal government positions that led to the collision, he told us.

How foolish and cruel can you be, Mr. President? It knows no bounds, and we have four more years of this misery to endure.

We cannot look to the most powerful man in the world for any display of basic human decency.
